Born from a rich tapestry of Japanese, Korean, and Black Southern heritage, Kia’s culinary identity is deeply rooted in the stories and flavors passed down by her grandparents. They have not only ignited her love for food, but also showed her that cooking is a powerful way to preserve culture, tradition, and memory. Through every dish, Kia strives to honor that legacy, blending her multicultural background with the techniques and traditions that she has learned throughout her career.
Her experience spans the full spectrum of the culinary world, from working in the front of the house, where she connected directly with guests, to mastering the art of the kitchen as a prep cook, line cook, private chef, catering chef, and chef instructor. She has had the privilege of working in beloved establishments and alongside world renowned chefs, each offering unique opportunities to refine her skills and culinary perspective.
Traveling is her ultimate source of inspiration. She immerses herself in the cuisines of diverse cultures, always eager to learn something new. Whether in a bustling street market or a quiet countryside café, she believes every dish tells a story, and is committed to weaving those stories into her own culinary creations.
